Worship this Week
Sunday, June 4, 2023
Text: Luke 10:25-28 – The Greatest Commandment

We need each other. This is a core belief in our congregation, and it is part of our calling to be creators of beloved community. It is also difficult work in such a time as this. Our summer sermon series will focus us on the task of how we can better connect with one another through curiosity, compassion, empathy, and conversation.

UPCOMING WORSHIP EVENTS
June 4 – Kick-off Summer Worship Series on CONNECTION
June 11 – Rev. Bill Warhover, Guest Preacher

June 18 – Ecumenical Worship at Seeds of Faith at 9:00 featuring VBS kids

UPDATE ON THE AV SYSTEM
Scott Larson and Gerald Gerber mounted the second large screen in the sanctuary, and Scott mounted another flat panel television in the social hall. Thank you, Scott and Gerald, for your faithful work! We now will focus on living into the new system and finding others to help run it.
+ AV SYSTEM TRAINING SESSION

Our final goal is to have several people who know how to run the AV system. If you are willing to learn, please RSVP to Scott Larson ([email protected]). Young people are welcome!

FIRST PRES MV & MVL CHILD CARE SOLUTIONS
Our congregation is working with Mount Vernon Lisbon Child Care Solutions group to serve as an infant childcare location. The required documentation has been submitted to the State Fire Marshal for approval. Meanwhile, the MVL Child Care Solutions work group is looking for an entrepreneur to run a daycare. The daycare administration will be independent of the church. Our goal is to meet a critical need in our community, not to have a source of income for the church.

PER CAPITA PAYMENT
Each PC(USA) congregation shares in the financial support for the work of the wider denomination at the presbytery, synod and national level. This support is called Per Capita, an amount per member apportioned by the member presbytery (in our case, the Presbytery of East Iowa). Our congregation’s per capita is $40.70 per member, or $5403 total. Thank you to everyone who has contributed the cost of their per capita. So far we have received $1363.45, or 25% of our share of support for the larger church.

VBS–WHO IS MY NEIGHBOR?
