We need each other. This is a core belief in our congregation and foundational to our lives as human beings. We are called to be creators of beloved community, but creating community is also difficult work in a time of division and mistrust. Our summer sermon series will focus us on the task of how we can better connect with one another through curiosity, compassion, empathy, and conversation.
This Sunday, Rev. Bill Warhover, leads us in exploring what the second creation story tells us about who we are in relationship to God, one another, and all of creation. Join us!

VBS–WHO IS MY NEIGHBOR?–NEXT WEEK!

1:00-4:00pm at Seeds of Faith Lutheran Church
At this year’s VBS we take a deep dive into the Parable of the Good Samaritan and learn about neighbors around the globe–Tanzania, India, Taos Pueblo, El Salvador, and Japan. Cooperatively led by First Pres MV, Seeds of Faith Lutheran and the Mount Vernon UMC. Register here.
ECUMENICAL WORSHIP SERVICE ON JUNE 18
Sunday, June 18 at 9:00am + Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper
On June 18, the Sunday following Vacation Bible School, First Pres and the United Methodists will be joining our friends at Seeds of Faith Lutheran Church for worship. We will be inside this year and VBS participants will be sharing what they learned. We will also share communion together. Join us!
WHERE IS PASTOR LORI?
Last week, June 4 through June 9, Pastor Lori was a chaplain at Camp Wyoming to a TTT camp for 4th grade girls. This weekend, the Wunder-Bonewalds are at the Small Town State Baseball Tournament in Grinnell. She’ll be back to have a great time at Vacation Bible School next week!

Join your FirstPresMV friends for dinner from the Morning Glory food truck–or bring your own. We will have tables staked out, so join us when you can. The Thursday market runs from 4:00-6:00 with local vendors selling baked goods, meats, personal care products, and plant starts in addition to Morning Glory produce. The food truck will serve food from 4:00-7:00.

FIRST PRES MV & MVL CHILD CARE SOLUTIONS
Our congregation is working with Mount Vernon Lisbon Child Care Solutions group to serve as an infant childcare location. The required documentation has been submitted to the State Fire Marshal for approval. Meanwhile, the MVL Child Care Solutions work group is looking for an entrepreneur to run a daycare. The daycare administration will be independent of the church. Our goal is to meet a critical need in our community, not to have a source of income for the church.
UPDATE ON THE AV SYSTEM
The AV system is almost complete. We have three screens in the sanctuary (two large, one small) and one in the social hall, and the learning curve for the system continues. Thank you, Scott Larson and Gerald Gerber, for your hard and faithful work making this happen! .
